Laser treatment is a non-invasive procedure that erases skin damage without disturbing the surface. The treatment involves passing light energy through the skin. This light stimulates collagen production & coagulates visible blood vessels in the damaged layer underneath by transmitting heat.

At Beacon Dermatology, our lasers are used to target specific unwanted superficial skin structures such as hair, fine lines & wrinkles, and pigmentation (broken capillaries, sunspots and birthmarks). With our lasers no ‘down time’ is associated.

The Treatment
On your first visit you will have a private consultation with your personal Beacon Dermatology Doctor, using 'Visia' UV photography to assess levels of sun damage, pigmentation and premature ageing. The treatment will usually take place at the same appointment. All our treatments take place in a calm and relaxing environment. When the treatment begins you will be given dark, protective goggles to wear .The hand piece is gently applied to the skin and light pulses are transmitted. You will experience a slight stinging sensation but our unique cooling system* is specifically designed to minimise discomfort.

After Care
After the treatment you may experience some flushing to the treated area. This usually lasts a few hours but can last up to two days. Patients are advised to protect their skin and the newly formed layers from the sun by wearing sun block SPF 30+ for several months.

*At Beacon Dermatology we have a unique cooling system attached to each of our lasers. This minimises the usual discomfort of ‘stinging’ associated with laser treatments by passing cool air around the treated area before, during and after the treatment.
